IN THE UPPER ROOM MEETING
∗ As before the Ascension of Christ, the disciples assembled in the upper room and prayed with one accord and supplication.
∗ But the believers were meagre in number – only 120 with the exception of Judas Iscariot.
∗ Jesus’ brothers who were previously non believers joined them and became believers. (John 7 : 5)
THE CHOICE OF MATTHIAS
Peter quotes the portions of Psalms 69 : 25 and 109 : 8. These Psalms predicted the betrayal of Jesus and what should be done in response.
WHEN WAS IT DONE?
* After the Ascension of Jesus and prior to the arrival of the Holy Spirit.
HOW DID THEY DECIDE?
* They were using Scriptures to guide their decision.

Say about casting lots. It has been highly respected method of determining God’s will in those days.
WHO WAS CHOSEN?
* Among the selected Joseph called Barnabas and Matthias, the latter one was chosen by the lot.
* This is the final mention of casting the lot in the Bible.
* After the arrival of the Holy Spirit, such measures are no longer necessary.
WERE THE APOSTLES HASTY IN CASTING THE LOT?
