The Seed, the Weeds and the Leaven Matthew 13 : 24-33; Mark 4 : 30-32; Luke 13 :18-21

7THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS LIKE THE MAN WHO SOWS THE GOOD SEEDS ……..
* The Son of man sows the good seeds.
* The field is the world.
* The good seeds are the good children of God’s Kingdom.
* The devil scatters the tares or weeds (ie) wickedness.
* Harvest is the end of the world.
* The reapers are the angels.
* The tares or the weeds are gathered and burnt in the furnace of fire.
* The righteous shall shine forth in the Kingdom of God.
The kingdom of God can expect mixed crop. This is because of human fallibility and weakness. So Satan starts working on human minds. He plants the seeds of false teaching, causing doubt and as a result the man falls into the hands of the wickedness. But the judgement of the crops (a person’s faith) is left to the reaper (Jesus).

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS LIKE A MUSTARD SEED…….
* The mustard seed is the Kingdom of God.
* The growth of the smallest seed refers to the humble beginning of the Kingdom.
* The Messiah was not born in a princely house, but was born to a lowly carpenter.
* But Jews expected a triumphant arrival of the Kingdom and the expulsion of the Gentile enemy.
* The beginning of the Kingdom is in fact small – twelve apostles and hundred and twenty believers. (Acts 1 : 13 – 15)
* Slowly the Kingdom grows and matures like a mustard tree, giving shelter to the birds of the air.
The mysterious growth of the Kingdom is due to the working of God’s grace and power in human lives; it’s not the result of human intervention and work.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS LIKE LEAVEN…….picture-scripture-ant-leaven-dough-2
* The leaven kneaded with flour should be left for its maturing time.
* When allowed, it produces a wonderful loaf of bread.
* If the process is hurried, it ends up with lumps and becomes useless and inedible.
So the power of God and His time must be allowed to work in people and do not expect too much too soon.

Let’s pray. ….
Lord, make us righteous as the wheat and not unrighteous as the tares or weeds.
Lord, make our faith to grow in You, as a mustard seed grows slowly and steadily inorder to be a great big tree.
Lord, make our faith to be steadfast with Your power and grace in Your time. Amen
Glory be to God
