The first Apostolic Miracle : The lame man healed Acts 3 : 1 – 26

THE PROCESS OF HEALING
∗ Here in Acts 3 : 6 and 7, Peter would have recalled the day Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead. (Luke 8 : 54), because…….
* He doesn’t merely tell the man to get up.
* He extends the command and then extends his hand to help.
∗ Peter lifts him up.
* His crippled feet and ankle receive strength.

THE REACTION OF THE HEALED MAN
* He praises the Lord verbally.
* He walks, jumps and leaps to ensure that he is not lame.
* He goes to temple leaping, walking and praising.
∗ His physical enthusiasm is certainly a way of praise as well.
∗ He doesn’t praise Peter, but praises God.

THE AMAZEMENT OF THE ONLOOKERS
* They are filled with wonder and amazement.
∗ It’s the power of Jesus that healed the lame man.
* The disciples are blessed with His power.
* They have received the Holy Spirit to commission in the world.

PETER SPEAKS TO THE ONLOOKERS
Peter describes three specific ways that Jesus had suffered at the hands of the people.
1 .The crowd demanded Jesus to be killed even after Pilate tried to save Jesus.
2. The crowd demanded the release of a murderer than God’s own Son.
3. The crowd had killed the very One who made life possible for them.
BUT GOD HAD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD. Isn’t it wonderful ??? !!!
It was only through the power of Jesus Christ that Peter and John were able to heal the crippled man.

PETER’S ADVICE
∗ It must have been difficult for the people to hear that Christ’s own suffering had been at their hands.
∗ The crowd had missed the messages of the prophets concerning Jesus.
* Moses whom the crowd had revered had told them about the coming of the Prophet.
* Also the other prophets from Samuel reaffirmed Moses’ message of a coming of a servant of God.
* Moses and the other prophets had done as God instructed.
∗ The seed of Abraham was blessed by God because Abraham obeyed God.
* But the crowd didn’t.
* Now it’s up to the people to obey and do God’s instructions.
* Only that can turn the people away from the wickedness.
* Before His second coming, let’s be ready to receive Him……

Let’s pray….
Lord, let’s turn away from the wickedness and follow Your instructions with obedience, be filled with Your Holy Spirit to commission in this world and be ready to meet You, Lord. Amen.
Glory be to God

* The particular gate is usually considered to be the Nicanor gate – the main eastern gate to the temple precincts from the court of Gentiles.
* According to the legend, the gate was being transported by ship from Alexandria to Jerusalem , when a terrible storm began.
* The gate was about to be jettisoned, the man named Nicanor was requested to be thrown overboard along with it. Miraculously, both survived the storm, and the gate was forever associated with the man.
* Josephus described the gate as being seventy-five feet tall with double doors made of Corinthian brass.
* The beggar must have appeared a pathetic creature indeed at the foot of this gleaming, magnificent gate.
∗ We are pathetic creatures in front of our magnificent God. But only His grace and mercy can raise us up. Thanks be to God.
