Jesus walks on the water Matthew 14 22:32; Mark 6: 45-52; John 6:15-21

WALKING ON THE WATER
After sending the multitude and the disciples to the other side by the boat, Jesus went up to the mountain alone to pray. The boat was in the middle of the sea. There was boisterous winds. Jesus was walking towards the boat on the water. They were scared looking at Him, thinking that He was a ghost. When they confirmed that He was Jesus, Peter started walking on the water to reach Him. The start was good, but began to stumble and sink as he proceeded.  Who alone could save him?

THE POWER OF JESUS
The disciples were ‘sore amazed,’ makes the point that the disciples wouldn’t have learnt by now that nothing is beyond the power of Jesus, because the power of Jesus is the power of God. Though it was a miracle of Jesus walking on the water and Peter’s trial walk on the water, it penetrates deep in our hearts. (Matthew 14:30 and 31)

THE COMPARISON OF THE EVENT IN TODAY’S LIFEimages (3) (2)
∗ Peter→ the people
∗ ‘Come’ →His Word
∗ The boisterous winds→ the wickedness and evils of the world
∗ Afraid →unwanted feelings arise
∗ Sink →Plunges into the worldly affairs
∗ Cries → realises
∗ ‘Lord save me’→ looking forward to God

GOD’S REACTION
∗ Stretched forth His arm → embraces the sinners
∗ Caught him → forgives the sinners. Saying, ‘O thou of little faith, wherefore didst doubt?’

THE LESSON LEARNT FROM…….
The multitude would make Jesus King by force because of His miracles. This shows the belief of the people.
So Jesus left the crowd. This shows the humility of Jesus.
Jesus’ disciples went down into the sea to go to Capernaum and it was dark. Suddenly the sea arose due the strong winds. They were scared. This shows their unbelief.
Jesus was not supposed to come there. But due to the strong winds He diverted. This shows His grace and mercy.
When they saw Jesus, walking on the sea, the disciples were afraid. That shows their frailty in faith.
Jesus stopped the wind and they reached safely. This shows the power and authority of Jesus.
The power and authority of Jesus was given to Him by His Heavenly Father.

Let’s pray……
Lord, Let’s meditate upon Your Word. Trust and believe in You. Walk in Your ways and hold on to You and never to doubt His power and authority at any situation. Amen.
Glory be to God
