Jesus Heals the Centurion’s servant Matthew 8: 5-13; Luke 7 : 1-10

GREAT FAITHrh-jesusandcenturian
“I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.”
“Assuredly, I say unto you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

JESUS’ APPRECIATION FOR THE CENTURION
* For the Centurion’s simplicity, Jesus appreciated him sky-high.
* For his steadfast faith, Jesus healed his servant at that same hour.
* For his humility, Jesus proclaimed that many would come from east and west and sit with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, but the sons of the kingdom would be cast out in darkness.

CENTURION’S RESPECT FOR JESUS
●The Roman Officer had shown respect for the for Jewish Nation.
●He helped with a construction of a synagogue.
●He had valued his servant who might be very well be Jewish.
●He knew the authority of Jesus that His Word is enough to heal his servant.
●His faith in Jesus was great that couldn’t be shaken.

JESUS WANTS US TO ……..
∗ Jesus wants us to believe in him. Not as a great man who made an impression two thousand years ago. But as the Son of God. Jesus says in the Gospel of John “I am the Resurrection and the Life.”
Jesus wants us to trust him not to doubt. The centurion comes all the way with the trust that a word of Him will heal his servant or friend.
∗ Jesus wants us to love him. Jesus tells us that he who loves Me is he who keeps the commandments of God.

This is possible in our lives too……..
When we eat the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion, we believe Him by surrendering ourselves.
When we communicate our sins for repentance to God, we trust Him completely.
When we obey His commandments, we love Him totally.

Let’s pray…..
Lord, let’s be simple, humble and give us the unshakeable faith of the Centurion…… Amen.
Glory be to God
