The Burning BushIntroduction
∗ God is at work. Humanly speaking, it’s as the burning bush not only made a profound impact on Moses and the nation of Israel, but also continue to serve as a key event in history.
∗ This passage of scripture is one that must have been well known to the Jews of Jesus’ day.
∗ The account of the burning bush is so central to the thinking of the Gospel writers, Mark and Luke that they ( perhaps like most men in their day) came to call the section of this scripture “the bush” portion ( Mark 12:26;

∗ Moses worked as a Shepherd while living with his father-in-law a life and the occupation quite different from the privilege and the prestige associated with his life in Pharaoh’s court. He greased sheep in the pastures of Mountain.

The burning bush
∗ The bush is apparently a typical common desert bush, the but fire is far from ordinary.
∗ The closer Moses got to the bush, the more incredible the scene became.
∗ Moses surely had to wonder about this phenomenon.
∗ Scholars have offered numerous explanation for this burning bush over the years, not wanting to acknowledge a full- fledged miracle.
∗ Yet, we know from the biblical account that this is truly a unique intervention of God in time and space.
∗ The closer Moses got to the bush, the more incredible the scene became.

THE CHANGE FROM GOD TO THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL

“I AM THAT I AM.”
∗ Scholars have spent a great deal of effort to determine the exact meaning of the expression, ” I AM THAT I AM.” As the, I AM, God is not the God who was anything, in the sense who changes.
∗ Whatever He was, He continues to be and He will be forever.
∗ God exists independently and unchangeably.
∗ Therefore whatever God has begun to do, He will bring it to completion, because there is no changes that necessitate any alterations in His original plans and purpose.

PROVING HIMSELF THROUGH THE BUSH

∗ Moses hid his face due to reverent fear in the presence of Divine God.

∗ He promised to deliver them from Egyptian oppression.
∗ His promise is as follows –

– brings them to a fertile and bounteous land where honey and milk flow.
– tells them who have inhabited the Promised Land at that time.*

GOD’S PROMISE
∗Now that God had revealed Himself, He revealed His plans for Moses and for Israel.
∗Moses had to repeat the words that God has spoken to him from the burning bush, request a three-day leave for the Israelites to go worship God in the desert and collect the wages that are owed to the people of God for their hard work in Egypt.

(1) Through your past trust God that everything had a purpose.
(2) In your present ask God what he would have you do.
(3) With your future believe God that he will do great things.
